Can you change how you react in a given situation?

Everything you do automatically occurs in a subconscious state.

When you program your subconscious mind, it allows you to function automatically.  I’m sure you’ve seen this many times…think breathing, walking, or brushing your teeth.  You’ve done it so many times that you have now programmed your subconscious and you no longer need to think, “lift the right foot, put it in front of me, push back”, instead you just walk.

However, when you are performing a programmed task, and something unusual happens during the process, your mind will need to react.  This reaction will either be changing to a different preprogrammed response, or seeking a new response.  For example, if you go to shake someone’s out stretched hand and you miss it, you automatically look for what to do next.   Do you get embarrassed, or do you try again?  What your mind chooses to do in this moment may become the new automatic response.

When a situation like this happens and an automated response is interrupted, the mind goes into hyper focus to seek out the proper next response.   This hyper focus is called monoidealism, or to focus on one thing.  Often times, this hyper focus can be the reason individuals end up with PTSD and other anxiety disorders.  As they have subconsciously focused on finding a new response, they may have programmed themselves to have a negative response, like embarrassment, anxiety or panic in the handshaking situation above.

As another example, consider an individual doing something that is an ordinary activity when all of a sudden a loud explosion happens. What happens next determines how the new automation will run in their subconscious.

If the event is followed by mayhem and chaos, with injuries or destruction, then the automated program will now be one of anxiety and fear.  If the explosion happens and then there is joy and excitement because of beautiful fireworks, the automated response is much different.

NeuroRedeem is a system created to help you program, or re-program a response that you desire, instead of the anxiety or fear that may have been created in a previous situation.
